This work was created out of Studio 34 in Nanaimo in 2018 and was picked for Nanaimo's Out Door Temporary Art Initiative. I've been prepping the work for install this Monday, April 29th, 2019 in Barton and Leier's lovely garden. "I LOVE IT HERE"!
This has given me sometime to catch up with some old colleagues and see what they've been up to. Grant's still painting "pretty pictures" in a madd dash of excessive proliferation with his new series "Appropriation Paintings", which is a diptych series of 84 works (168 individual paintings). It has taken him a mere four months to complete, all that's left is framing.
And Nixie, well, still has a mouth like a trucker and is scratching away and adding a multitude of brilliant layers of encaustics to her still-lives and new series of crow paintings. On the docket for this week, besides installation tomorrow, will be a studio visit with Sara Robichaud (HerringerKiss and Jones Gallery) in her new space in Chimainus, Leier and Faubert B.S and studio time-sketch session extraordinaire, and of course some quality time with my lovely lady and her family. I see croquette, flying kites, and fort building with Atticus Bean in my near future.
