Hello all, after a week in the Bronx with my most lovely lady, Alexis Rose AKA Chooch, I am back in the Putnam Valley dumpster diving on Lane's work. Two days deep and I'm 1/3rd of the way to completion. More on that later, I'd like to take a moment and reflect on my time in Manhattan with my love. I am so grateful for this wonderful lady, she helped me take some time for me and us, which I normally would willfully work away and miss out on all the other wonders of being in such a vibrant city as New York is. Thank-you my dear!
Oh my! Check those kicks! No longer in production, these Chuck Taylor's were a super hot find at the Brooklyn Flea market which takes place every Saturday. That was a lovely day, and I believe we both found Brooklyn to be our favourite burb of Manhattan. It is also home to most of the street art and graffiti I craved to see. We shoe shopped for stuff we couldn't afford:
Manolo Blahnik Flight Centre-avg pair of sneaks $2500
But alas, we both made out like shoe whore'in bandits, Alexis with four pairs: one pair of boots, one pair high heeled strappy thang (4" heels), one pair heeled sandal, and those super high high top Chuck Taylor's; and myself with: a classic pair of brand new discounted Adidas shell toe 'Superstar's', leopard print Adidas Continentals (also priced to move), and a 'The Great Wave' printed pair of Vans slip ons. Life is good when your feet are happy! However my feet were not so happy, as we trampled through the city on a daily basis from morning to night me poor peebs exclaimed no more, as planters fasciitis set in. The mornings were a ruff start, but we pushed through and oh the sites we saw!
This last image was a little unnerving, this was a creepy collection of Barbie's from around the world which greeted us every night whence we returned home to our nook in the Bronx. Our Air B'n'B host had a collecting 'issue', you should've seen the rest of the place!
We did it all (or a lot anyways): Central Park, Staten Island twice (there's not much there, we went once for the Lady Liberty, and the second time for a Tibetan Gallery), the MoMA, Central Park again for a rowboat extravaganza, Brooklyn, Bushwick, PS1, Little Italy, Hell's Kitchen, Chelsea, Queens, Broadway, lunch with Brian Cranston @ Michelin rated restaurant Gotham, Soho, Noho, Harlem, Times Square, and 5th Avenue. A word to the wise, if you are at a street vender and there are no prices posted, ask "how much for a..." I ended up paying $16 for two lukewarm chile-dogs.
So this post goes out to my lady love, thank you for coming to see me and getting me out of myself my lovely Alexis Rose. You helped me see last week and not just look!
